MSLTours FranceWe start this tour as usual on the latest SeaFrance ferry to Calais and using a combination of autoroute and national roads ride to our first hotel amongst the Chateaux of the Loire Valley. After a comfortable evening together our route will take us along one of my favourite ‘D’ roads of this region. Using the traffic free D975 & D675 we can enjoy the French country side at its best; manicured farm lands, worked forests and sleepy villages welcome us at the pavement cafes and bars.
Our next resting place is in small market town close to where the two rivers Vezere and Dordogne merge. We stop here for two nights giving us time to explore some of the many outstanding prehistoric caves of the area or simply paddle your own canoe down the river which runs by the hotel.
MSLTours France   The next day takes us further south onto the small twisty roads of the Midi Pyrenees During our two nights here there is the opportunity to visit nearby Albi situated on the Tarn and the famous City of Carcassonne and if time allows there is the famous Millau Bridge designed by Norman Foster.
The going gets tougher as we turn and travel north across the rugged terrain of the Central Massif to experience another more dramatic side of the French terrain to complete the stage in the Ardeche. Our hotel is located in a medieval town with loads of small narrow streets when donkey traffic was all you could expect.
Our tour of France is completed at Avallon in Burgundy where we enjoy our final glass of wine together and reflect on the past high spots of the tour.
