 During the ten days of this tour we will be travelling through some of most desirable biking roads in Europe and where biking is big business – just marvel at the bikers welcome signs that greet you at every guest house, hotel and café.The tour leads off from Calais and assembles again at our hotel in Reims. For this leg of the journey we have left the route for you to decide. Either by way of the direct autoroute, which will give you time to look around the city or the more pleasant or relaxing country route, the choice is yours. Our route the following day will enter Germany via the Col du Bonhomme, which sweeps down into Colmar and through the wonderfully spectacular vineyards of Alsace and onto our lakeside hotel in the Black Forest. Three days here will give you a chance to explore the regions roads. In particular the famous road 500 where in one day you can overdose on scenery and bends. It’s a different world, a biker’s paradise and at the end of each day you will appreciate the calming location of our lakeside hotel to recover. For those wishing to do the tourist thing and do some shopping there is a chance to sample some real Black Forest gateau or perhaps buy that genuine cuckoo clock that you have always promised yourself! Forests give way to mountain views from our Austrian location. Here we use a family hotel, which enjoys a privileged position in a truly idyllic location at 1500m above sea level. The high mountain landscapes give way to gentle rolling hills. Leaving your luggage at the hotel you will be free to explore the roads around the hotel that are favourites with German bikers. But if it’s a rest you need and you choose not to join the cavalcade of bikers enjoying the friendly atmosphere a cable car can hoist you to the top of nearby mountain where you can lunch and soak up the views. We come down to earth back in France and enjoy more empty roads, sleepy villages and drivers who pull over and let you overtake. |
