MSLTours - Eastern EuropeOn this tour we will visit some of the most distinctive and beautiful cities in Europe. We will see 600 years of architecture; wander through medieval cobbled streets; see opulent palaces and cathedrals.
The tour starts in Reims in familiar surroundings where we get to know each other and share the first evening meal together. Using a well-used route through the Alsace wine route we spend the second night in a German lakeside hotel. The next day finding ourselves in Salzburg after passing through some of the best motorcycling roads in Austria.
Using a combination of autobahns and national roads we cross into Hungary and here we take a well-earned rest day. Hungary was never one of the Soviet Unions most obedient satellites, and Budapest is far more westernised than any other ex-Eastern Bloc cities. Budapest is split in half by the Danube. On the hilly side is Buda and on the flat side Pest, simple.
The choice is yours spend longer in Hungary or ride onto Slovakia and our next hotel in Bratislava a short hop of 120miles. Like Hungary Slovakia was once a soviet state but broke away during what became known as the velvet revolution, no shots were fired and the Russians left silently. Our experience of last year taught us that it’s a very welcoming city with many restaurants and bars serving European cuisine, menus are in English; plus English is widely spoken. It’s difficult to miss the Danube, which flows gracefully by the hotel. During the three days we would recommend a cruise along this mighty river to Vienna just 50 miles up stream.
MSLTours - Eastern Europe   After three days we travel to Poland and our hotel in Krakow. We enjoy another rest day to explore the wonderful city that escaped any significant war damage. The free day here will give us the opportunity to visit the notorious Auschwitz. Think long and hard about joining this visit, it is extremely moving but an important part of history, which remains as a monument and museum, left intact since liberation in 1945.
We ride 320 miles to our next location in Dresden. In contrast this city suffered massive damage in the war and has recently enjoyed the rebuilding of Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) this was completely destroyed by allied bombs but stone by original stone has been rebuilt with English money. Nearby is Colditz Castle another worthwhile visit.
Finally the tour comes to a close in Koblenz at a point where the Rhine and Moselle converge and we enjoy our final evening meal together and reflect on the past fourteen days.
