Corsica and Sardinia

France and Italy in the Mediterranean, uniquely different!

MSL Tours are pleased to announce a return to Corsica; it’s a destination that proved very popular in the past on numerous occasions, now with the addition of Sardinia! We start at Dover, meeting to board our early morning ferry to Calais, once in France we will make quick progress to our (B&B) overnight transit hotel in Dijon.  On Day Two we journey further south towards Grenoble where the roads become livelier for the bikes, following the iconic, and given our destination, the aptly named N-85 ‘Route de Napoleon’, as we head towards our quality, biker friendly (half board) hotel.

We will be located in the Hautes-Alpes, in the heart of beautiful Dévoluy Massif for the night, surrounded by forest and meadows with mountainous views. The hotel boasts a sauna; spa and indoor swimming pool combined with family run hospitality and locally sourced produce on the traditional French menu. An early, but leisurely start on Day Three will give us an opportunity to enjoy the fabulous Gorges of Verdon circuit. Picking up the incredible D-71 at Aiguines which then literally clings to the southern rim of the gorge, before we ride on towards Nice on the French Riviera and our overnight crossing with Corsica Ferries to Corsica!

Our morning arrival on Day Four in Bastia gives the opportunity for a lively ride along the RT-10 south bound to Bonifacio, along the full length of the east coast of the island; on our arrival we’ll take a short ferry crossing over to Sardinia. Our first (half board) tour hotel is a tranquil, quality four star country spa resort with swimming pool and locally prepared cuisine, situated in the rural village of Aritzo in the centre of the island. We are based here for two nights, with the opportunity for a full ride out day. Day Six is a short move south west to the town of Sardara, not far from the west coast of the island, for a further two night (half board) stay, our hotel presenting quality, traditional Sardinian cuisine. With two large thermal swimming pools and use of the spa the perfect place then to relax after another wonderful day out riding some fabulous Sardinian roads!

On Day Eight the tour heads back north and our return ferry trip to Bonifacio. Once in in Corsica we’ll head back to the north of the island, where we will be based for a further two nights (B&B) in our hotel overlooking the Gulf of Saint Florent, in the beautiful small town of the same name.  A short distance from Bastia, conveniently located for our ferry back to the mainland, however before the boat we have the opportunity for a final last full ride out day around the fabulous roads in the north east of the island! With two nights to relax and enjoy the ambience and food at the many harbour side restaurants including La Marinuccia, with its panoramic sea view terrace, just a few hundred meters from our hotel and situated  under the walls of the old Genoese Citadel.

Planning on taking the overnight ferry on Day Ten to Nice means we will have plenty of time to once again enjoy the amazing routes in this region of France as we return to our (half board) hotel in the Hautes –Alpes on Day Eleven. Our final night on Day Twelve at our (B&B) transit hotel in Dijon is a well-deserved rest before  the tour heads back to Calais on Day Thirteen, to catch our late afternoon crossing back to Dover; reflecting on the uniquely different, exciting islands of Corsica and Sardinia!
